My Child Is Not With Me

My Child is not with me now.

How

do I survive?

I live

Each day

Loving my child

In my Being.

 

Yet being

Isn’t enough.

It’s so tough,

I tell you.

My child

Needs Me.

 

Only

I can’t always be

There.

I love you, My Child,

When we are close-

When we are apart-

My heart

Reminds me

I found me

When you were born.

 

                                                           Some days I get torn,

My Child,

For time does not stop.

If I could drop

My responsibilities

And freeze time

For us

To be,

I would.

 

 

But, My Child,

We are

Now,

You and I.

And I hope

Your heart

Reminds you

Of this.

 

 

I always want you

Safe, My Child,

And

I will always be

Where

It will keep you safe.

 

Though we are not always together,

Don’t ever

Forget—

 

You are my Being,

And I love you, My Child.
